Looking
back over the last 25 years, I remember a surprising variety of
projects that I have been involved in. You'll see some of them
here on the site.
Looking back at the path...
I
spent several years building kitchen cabinets before coming to
the States in the early '80s. After
trying my hand at housebuilding for awhile, I was happy to find
work as a boatbuilder, mostly repairing wooden boats around the
San Francisco Bay. During the next ten years, I restored a fifty-five
foot yacht (about 4000 hours), built a few small sailboats, and
fixed a lot of rotten ones. Somewhere along the way, I started
calling myself a woodworker and feeling good about it.
Since moving away from the water several years ago, I've been
designing and building furniture, both developing my own design
sense and drawing from the many contemporary and historical woodworkers
that I admire. I work on several levels, building furniture designed
by others, building furniture by bringing customers into the design
process, and building my own designs.
View Perspectives...
Two of my greatest pleasures exist in counterpoint.

From
the shop my view looks over my garden and off into the redwood
forests. The garden always beckoning for attention. |
| From
the garden I see the shop, an unfinished building full of
ideas waiting patiently for their moment...each view with
its own song and its own chaos. |

I
enjoy challenging and ususual projects, and welcome your inquiries.
